Mera Peak Climbing takes you to the highest climbing peak among the permitted peaks in Nepal. Standing on the top of Mera Peak (6,476 m/21,247 ft), you enjoy the best views of sparkling summits—5 out of 6 of the world’s highest peaks, namely Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. As compared to Island Peak Climbing, Mera Peak Expedition is more challenging and demands more physical fitness and technical expertise. Expedition—Mera Peak Climbing starts with a scenic flight flying between massive pristine mountains. Imagine the thrilling moment you will enjoy living in your life. During your journey, you pass through dense alpine forests, pastures, and rural settlements; cross rivers; walk along the glaciers; and cross high passes. Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport:

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of the representatives of Wonder Himalaya will be there to greet and welcome you. We, the team of Wonder Himalaya will make sure that you reach to your accommodation safe and comfortably. For the rest of your first day, you can either rest or walk around the Kathmandu city. At the end of the day, you’ll have a short meeting with your guide regarding the trek. We’ll also go through your trekking gears and make you sure you are not missing anything. If something is missing, we will buy or rent it the following day.

Day 02 :
Rest and Preparation Day in Kathmandu

Today you’ll spend your day exploring around the city of Kathmandu. We’ll guide you through some of the best attraction sites of Kathmandu valley. We will visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and also Kathmandu Durbar Square. We, Wonder Himalaya will make sure you will have a great time exploring around the Kathmandu valley. And we suggest you to take a proper rest tonight as we will officially begin our journey from tomorrow.

Day 03 :
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2860m/9383ft) and Trek to Phakding (2652m).

Today we’ll officially begin our adventure to Everest with an early morning short flight to Lukla. The flight will offer us the breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas. Once we land at the Lukla Airport, you’ll meet our trekking crew and porters and complete the permit formalities at Lukla checkpoint. Before starting our trek, we’ll also visit the golden statue of sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, a tribute to the first Everest summiteers.
From Lukla, we’ll descend through the Dudh Koshi Valley, and will pass through traditional Sherpa village like Thalsaroa, Cheplung, and Ghat. Moving forward, we’ll also cross the first suspension bridge and enjoy the stunning view of Mount Khumbila and Thamserku. Eventually we’ll reach Phakding, a peaceful riverside village filled with prayers flags all around it making it a perfect place to rest. We’ll stay here overnight and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 04 :
Trek from Phakding (2,652m) to Chutang (3,430m/11250ft).

On the day four our actual trek begins as we’ll start our trek from Lukla and head toward Chutanga. We’ll go through the dense forests of rhododendron and pine and ascend through a quiet and less crowded route. After walking for at least five to six hours, we’ll finally reach Chutanga, a beautiful alpine area, surrounded by lush forest. We’ll stay overnight at Chutanga and take appropriate rest to continue our journey tomorrow.
 

Day 05 :
Trek from Chutanga to Thuli Kharka (4,320) via Zatrwa La Pass (4,610m).

After spending a night at Chutanga, we’ll begin an early trek to Thuli Kharka. The day five might be a bit challenging as we’ll cross the Zatrawa La Pass (4,610m), the first high pass on the route. As we reach the top of the pass, we’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Dudh Kunda region and the Hinku Valley. After enjoying the view, we’ll now descend toward Thuli Kharka, a high pastureland from where we can witness the stunning views of Mera Peak and other snow-capped peaks. For the day five, we’ll stay overnight here at Thuli.

Day 06 :
Thuli Kharka (4,320m/ 14, 173 ft.) to Kothe (3,691m/ 12,109 ft.)

Activity Duration:13 Km, 7-8 Hours Trek

On this day, we have a slightly longer trek from Thuli Kharka to Kothe. Following the big boulder and rustic trails, we step on the Tashi Dingma viewpoint—you can witness the spectacular view of Mera Peak and other snow-covered summits.

After that, we descend steeply to Tashing Ongma. After crossing a suspension bridge over the Hinku River, we climb uphill and reach Kothe. Overnight, we stay here at Kothe.

Day 07 :
Kothe (3,691m/ 12,109ft) to Thangnak (4,326m/ 14,189ft)

From Kothe, we go uphill along the Hinku River to the summer herders' village of Gondishung. As we walk on, we come upon Lungsumba Gompa—the 200-year-old monastery. The Mera Peak path is inscribed on a Mani boulder along the way. After a short and lovely trek, we go up to Thangnak, the Summer Village.

Overnight, we stay here at Thangnak village.

Day 08 :
Thangnak (4,326m/ 14,189ft) to Khare (5,045m/ 16,551ft)

Today, we take a warm breakfast at Thangnak and follow the trail alongside Sabai Tsho. Next, we go down to Khare, passing through subtropical dense alpine, fir, and rhododendron forest.

While trekking to Khare, we enjoy the spectacular view of Nuptse Glacier and Nuptse Shar Glacier. Descending through a sandy path and a short, steep ascent takes us to Khare. Witness the sparkling northern face of Mera Peak from Khare.

Overnight, we stay here at Khare.

Day 09 :
Acclimatization and Preparation at Khare

This day, we take complete rest and acclimatize to a higher altitude. Your guides coach you about the safety measures and how to use gear like ice axes, crampons, boots, ropes, harnesses, and ascenders. We also check their condition.

Day 10 :
Khare (5,045m/ 16,551ft) to Mera Base Camp (5,300m/ 17,384ft)

The tenth day of our journey begins with an ascend toward the Mere Base Camp. We’ll go through the icy alpine world following a steep and rocky trail. And as we get closer to Mere Glacier, we’ll walk roped up for safety. As we reach the Base Camp, we’ll setup our tent and will stay overnight, watching the starry skies at night.

Day 11 :
Mera Base Camp (5,300m/ 17,384ft) to Mera High Camp (5,700m/ 18,696ft)

The day eleven will be the one of the most exciting and challenging day as we’ll reach one step closer to our destination. Starting our trek from the Base Camp, we’ll ascend gradually to the High Camp. Along the way we’ll witness the breathtaking views of five 8,000-meter peaks, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyo, and Kanchenjunga. Eventually we will reach the High Camp, we’ll set our camp here and prepare for the Mera Peak Summit.

Day 12 :
High Camp (5,700m/ 18,696ft) to Mera Peak Summit (6,461m/ 21,907ft) – Return to Khare (5,045m/ 16,551ft)

The twelfth day of our journey will be the one to be remembered for lifelong, as today we will be submitting Mera Peak.  We’ll start our journey a bit early from the High Camp and ascend gradually toward the Mera Peak. The path is not much challenging but require stamina. After climbing for several hours, we’ll finally reach the summit, the highest trekking peak in Nepal. We’ll witness the panoramic views of the Himalayan giants like, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyo, and Kangchenjunga. Also, the magical sunrise view from the top is unforgettable. After soaking in this beauty, we’ll slowly and carefully return back to Khare, the same route we travelled earlier.

Day 13 :
Khare (5,045m/ 16,551ft) to Kothe (3,691m/ 12,109ft)

As we have completed our journey to Mera Peak, now we will slowly and carefully return back to our original destination. We’ll begin our trek from Khare, descending through the same route that led us here. We’ll once again enjoy the greenery, and all the other attraction and views on our way back to Kothe. We’ll once again spend our night at Kothe.

Day 14 :
Kothe (3,691m/ 12,109ft) to Thuli Kharka (4,320m/ 14, 173 ft.)

The day fourteen of our journey begins with a warm breakfast at Kothe. After having our breakfast, we’ll now begin our trek ascending toward Thuli Kharka through forests of rhododendron and will pass by beautiful alpine meadows. Soon we’ll reach Thuli Kharka, we’ll once again spend our night here.

Day 15 :
Thuli Kharka (4,320m/ 14, 173 ft.) to Lukla (2,845m/9,333ft)

The day fifteen will be the final walking day of our journey, as we’ll leave the Thuli Kharka and will cross Zatrwa La Pass for the one final time and descend back to Luka. We’ll once again follow the same route, we came by earlier. Soon we’ll reach Luka, we’ll then take a proper rest in a warm bed and will have better meals and a better atmosphere. We’ll also prepare for tomorrow as we’ll leave for Kathmandu the next day.

Day 16 :
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

Today we’ll bid a goodbye to Lukla and return to Kathmandu. We’ll take a short domestic flight, enjoying the aerial view of the mighty Himalayas. Once we land on Kathmandu, we’ll return to our accommodation and take a most necessary and deserving rest. At end of the day, if you still got some energy, you can visit the night streets of Thamel. This marks the official completion our journey to Everest Base Camp.

Day 17 :
Extra Day

We have included an extra reserve day in our itinerary. We can use this day anywhere during the trek. The reserve day offers us the flexibility to adjust our schedule in case of unexpected delays due to the weather or slower trekking pace or even because of some minor health issues. In case, we completed our trek on time without using the extra day, then we can spend one more day at Kathmandu, enjoying its attraction spots.

Day 18 :
Final Departure

After completing your remarkable and unforgettable Himalayan adventure, it’s time to say goodbye to Nepal, with memories that will last a lifetime and a hope to return again someday.
Today, we will bid you farewell and arrange your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Please make sure your luggage is packed and that you haven’t left anything behind. We will ensure you reach the airport on time. And hope to have you here next year for another trek.
