If you are a beginner and looking for a rewarding trekking experience on one of the easiest trails in Nepal, then Pikey Peak is for you. Located in the lower Khumbu region of Solukhumbu district, Pikey Peak offers stunning Himalayas view and a peaceful, less crowded route, making it ideal for the beginners.

Situated at an elevation of 3,640 meters, Pikey Peak Base Camp is one of the shortest treks that can be completed within 6 days. Pikey Peak Base Camp offers a breathtaking view of Everest and other majestic peaks including Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. The base camp also offers an unforgettable sunrise view.  The trek to Peaky Peak is not just a random trek but a journey that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and breathtaking Himalayas views.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap (2,600m/8,530ft).

Today we’ll officially start our journey as we’ll leave Kathamandu and take a long drive to Dhap. It will take around 7 to 8 hours to reach Dhap. On the way to Dhap we’ll pass by green hills, some rivers and few villages. We’ll stay overnight in Dhap and prepare for the upcoming journey.

Day 02 :
Trek from Dhap to Jhapre (2,820m/9,252ft).

The second day will be an exciting day, as we’ll officially begin our trek. After having our breakfast in Dhap, we’ll now ascend toward Jhapre. We’ll follow trail which goes ups and downs and passes through the forests of pine. We’ll go through few small settlement and monasteries. As we reach closer to Jhapre, we will witness some breathtaking views of Everest and Numbur. Eventually we’ll reach Jhapre and will spend a night here.

Day 03 :
Jhapre to Pikey Peak Base Camp (3,640m/11,942ft).

With each passing day, we move one step closer to our destination. Today we’ll start early from Jhapre and climb through traditional Sherpa villages, pine forests, and open ridges. After walking for one and half hour, we’ll finally reach Bhulbhule, which offers beautiful views of Himalayan ranges, including Everest and Numbur Himal. Soon we will reach Lhamuje and after walking for next four to five hours, we’ll finally make our way to Pikey Peak Base Camp. We’ll stay overnight at the Base Camp.

Day 04 :
Pikey Peak Base Camp to Jun Besi (2,700m / 8,860 ft).

Today we’ll wake-up early to witness the breathtaking view of the sunrise. And if the sky remains clear we’ll be able to witness the magical view of Mount Everest, Numbur Himal, Gauri Shankar, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After soaking in this beauty, we’ll now return back to Jun Besi. We’ll descend gradually through alpine meadows, stone chortens, and forests of rhododendron and pine. Soon we’ll reach Jun Besi where we’ll stay overnight.

Day 05 :
Jun Besi to Phaplu (2,413m / 7,917 ft).

The trek from Jun Besi to Phaplu is a short, pleasant, and scenic walk. We’ll follow the trail crossing the Junbesi Khola and then we’ll gradually climb up through pine and rhododendron forests. We’ll also pass through few small villages and mani walls, and after walking for almost two hours, we’ll reach Bhagthala, a small ridge top settlement where trekkers stop for tea or snacks. Walking for next two hours we’ll finally reach Phaplu. We’ll stay overnight here and prepare for our return to Kathmandu.

Day 06 :
Phaplu to Kathmandu (1400m/4600ft)

Today we’ll leave Phaplu and take a local bus to Kathmandu. The journey to Kathmandu might be a bit challenging as we’ll drive for 8 to 10 hrs. The road condition is good but in some parts the road is bumpy. After a long drive, we’ll finally reach Kathmandu. Once we arrive in Kathmandu, we’ll transfer you to your hotel where you can have a proper rest.
