How Off Season Looks Like in Nepal?

After the trekking season in Nepal, the trails gradually become quiet again. The walkways that had been packed with tourists are deserted once more. There are no footsteps, no busy teahouses but only the forests growing freely and wildflowers blooming quietly as if getting ready to greet the visitor’s again next season. Typically, the off, season is during monsoon (June to August) and winter (December to February). At that time, the high passes close their gates as if they themselves are asking for some time to rest. The trails gradually become covered with green plants, as if they are waiting for people to come back and clear them again. The mountains are mostly covered with clouds as if they themselves are having a quiet sleep.

Nevertheless, when the off, season is over, the mountains are ready to greet the trekkers with a dazzling smile once again. The high passes throw open their gates and invite people to conquer them. The woods greet their visitors with lovely flowers, and the trails themselves call the travelers to lay their footsteps on them. This is how the season begins.

The teahouses have again opened up to visitors, offering them a place to rest. The weather becomes calm, as if someone has been holding it back from the mountains. The paths get gradually filled with travelers, and the routes lead them to their destinations. White snow is everywhere, as if the mountains have thrown it out for joy and happiness.

And again, the very same cycle goes on. The off, season comes back, and the routes are left alone, getting back to the point where they can support life and hopes of the next season when the new and old travelers will again come.

That is how the off, season looks like in Nepal: it is quiet, peaceful, and full of hope, waiting to see travelers going through the same paths once more.
