Whenever you think about trekking in Nepal, you must consider getting a travel insurance. Although the insurance is not mandatory in many destinations, but if you are going to the restricted or protected area, you must compulsorily have a travel insurance as per the Department of Immigration (https://immigration.gov.np/en/post/trekking-permit). We would highly recommend everyone to get a travel insurance even if its not mandatory. A trek to Himalayas is challenging, even the easiest trail is risky, so to be on a safe side we must get a travel insurance.
A Travel Insurance must cover the following things:
- Emergency medical expenses
- Helicopter evacuation (at least up to 6000m)
- Trip Cancellation or Delays
- Personal Liability
- Lost or Stolen Baggage.
Make sure your travel insurance covers all these above-mentioned situations. Read the policy details carefully and make sure the insurance company provides coverage for high altitude trekking, emergency helicopter evacuation, medical expenses, personal liability, and trip cancellations.
We do not provide a travel insurance service and request you all to get it by yourself. We can recommend you few most trusted travel insurance companies.
- World Nomads
- AIG Travel Insurance
- Allianz
- Travel Guard
- British Mountaineering Council
Note: You are not required to purchase travel insurance from these companies, you can get it from any other companies too. They are simply suggestions based on reviews and feedback from our previous guests.
