Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival Day and Trek Briefing in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,265ft.)

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of the representatives of Wonder Himalaya will be there to greet and welcome you. We, the team of Wonder Himalaya, will make sure that you reach to your accommodation safe and comfortably. For the rest of your first day, you can either rest or walk around the Kathmandu city. At the end of the day, you’ll have a short meeting with your guide regarding the trek. We’ll also go through your trekking gears and make you sure you are not missing anything. If something is missing, we will buy or rent it the following day.

Day 02 :
Reserve Day in Kathmandu

Today you’ll spend your day exploring around the city of Kathmandu. We’ll guide you through some of the best attraction sites of Kathmandu valley. We will visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and also Kathmandu Durbar Square. We, Wonder Himalaya will make sure you will have a great time exploring around the Kathmandu valley. And we suggest you to take a proper rest tonight as we will officially begin our journey from tomorrow.

Day 03 :
Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1950m/ 6,400ft):

Today we will step outside the Kathmandu valley, we will go through the mountain roads with scenic views of villages, rivers and terraced fields. And soon we’ll reach Trishuli Bazaar. From here we will drive furthermore and after a complete drive of six to seven hours, we’ll finally make our way to Dunche. Dunche is the headquarters of Rasuwa District and the entry point to both Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek. We will stay here overnight, watching the view of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal.

Day 04 :
Trek from Dhunche to Thulo Syabru (2,210m/ 7,250ft):

The day four is our actual walking day, we will start our first trek journey from Dhunche, then we will go through a mix of terraced farmland, pine and rhododendron forests. On our way, we will get the little glimpse of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. We will go pass by some small water streams, suspension bridge and dense forest, hearing the beautiful sounds of Himalayan birds. Soon we will reach Thulo Syabru, a picturesque village known for its wide Himalayan Panoramas. We’ll stay here for tonight, and prepare ourselves for the upcoming journey.

Day 05 :
Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa (3,330m/ 10,925ft):

The day five begins with an early climb to Shin Gompa, leaving the village behind we’ll move ahead through oak and rhododendron forests. On our way we might see some occasional views of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang range. After a complete walk of almost five hours, we’ll arrive at Shin Gompa, a peaceful place filled with people following Buddhism. We will be staying here tonight, under the sky filled with stars.

Day 06 :
Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (3,910 m/ 12,828ft).

The day eleven will be exciting for us, as we will move toward the alpine lakes of Gosaikunda. We will begin our trek from Shin Gompa, passing through Lauribinayak Viewpoint, from where we can see the beautiful view of the Annapurna range to the west and Langtang Lirung to the east. As we finally reach Gosaikunda, we will be able to see the lake full of crystal-clear water. We will enjoy the view and set up our tent as we will be staying here for tonight.

Day 07 :
Explore Gosaikunda

Activity Duration:6km, 3-4 hrs.

On the day twelve of our journey, we’ll take a most necessary rest, and a break for a day. We’ll make sure that we are both physically and mentally fit for the upcoming challenges. We’ll also roam around Gosaikunda lake and explore its beauty. We’ll also go around the smaller lakes like Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda. With these activities we will conclude our day 12 and take adequate rest.

Day 08 :
Cross Lauribinayak Pass (4,610m / 15,124ft) to Ghopte (3,530m / 11,581ft).

Today we will start early as we need to climb the Lauribinayak Pass, which is the highest point of the journey. We will first start our trek from Gosaikunda, and ascend toward the Lauribinayak Pass. After walking for at least two hours in a rocky trail, we will finally reach Lauribinayak Pass. From here we will descend toward Ghopte, through a rocky terrain and alpine medows. Soon we will step on Ghopte, a remote settlement surrounded by dense forest. We will stay here overnight and take a proper rest.

Day 09 :
Ghopte to Tarkeghyang (2,590m / 8,500ft).
Accommodation:At a Luxury Hotel/Guesthouse
Activity Duration:7km, 2-3 hrs.
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The day nine will be full of tiredness, as we will need to walk a bit longer today. We’ll start our trek from Ghopte passing thorugh alpine terrain, rhododendron and pine forest and yak pastures. We’ll soon reach Thadepati Pass (3,690m). From here, we will witness the sweeping vistas of the Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Dorje Lakpa. From here we’ll descend toward Tarkeghyang. Walking through dense forest and after crossing some wooden bridges, we will finally reach Tarkeghyang, a home of 100 years old monastery (Gyalpo monastery). We’ll stay here for tonight and take a proper rest.

Day 10 :
Trek to Ama Yangri (3,771m / 12,372ft) and return back to Tarkeghyang and trek to Helamby Gyang (2,699m / 8,855ft).

Today we’ll begin an early journey to Ama Yangri, through dense rhododendron, pine and oak forest. After an ascent of at least three hours, we will finally reach the sacred Ama Yangri viewpoint. The viewpoint is marked by a chorten and prayer flags, making it even beautiful. From the top, we’ll witness the breathtaking views of Everest, Makalu, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and Shishapangma. We will enjoy the mesmerizing view of sunrise and after taking some pictures, we will return back to Tarkeghyang for our breakfast. From Takreghyang, we will walk for another half an hour and finally make our way to Helambu Gyang (2,699m), a beautiful Sherpa village surrounded by terraced fields and traditional stone house. We will stay here for tonight and take a proper rest.

Day 11 :
Trek from Helambu Gyang to Melamchi Bazaar (846m/2,775ft) and Drive to Kathmandu.

Today will be the final day of our actual walking, we will start early and descend for five hours, passing through terraced farmlands, small sherpa and Tamang villages. Along the way we’ll see some traditional water mills. Soon we’ll arrive at Melamchi Bazaar, a lively riverside town where the trek officially ends. From here we’ll drive back to Kathmandu, enjoying the road views from the window of the jeep. And after almost four hours, we’ll finally return back to Kathmandu. Once we reach the Kathmandu, we suggest you to take a proper rest as we have just completed such a long journey.

Day 12 :
An Extra Day.

We have included an extra reserve day in our itinerary. We can use this day anywhere during the trek. The reserve day offers us the flexibility to adjust our schedule in case of unexpected delays due to the weather or slower trekking pace or even because of some minor health issues. In case, we completed our trek on time without using the extra day, then we can spend one more day at Kathmandu, enjoying its attraction spots like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 13 :
Farewell/Departure Day:

On this final day, offering you a light breakfast, we transfer to the Tribhuvan International airport via our private transportation. We bid you a happy 'Goodbye' and wish you a safe flight.
