Overview

Tsum Valley is a Himalayan valley situated in a remote area of north, central Nepal. More accurately, it’s in the Manaslu region close to the border with Tibet. Its other name is “Hidden Valley” as it was cut off from the outside world till 2008. Consequently, its Tibetan Buddhist culture, language, and traditions have been well preserved there. The valley is a part of the Manaslu Conservation Area and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, including Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal.

Tsum Valley features some sacred places of worship like Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa that exemplify the valley’s spiritual depth. The local Tsumba community follows a distinct brand of Buddhism that owes a lot to the ancient traditions of the area, and the location itself is acknowledged as a Himalayan pilgrimage site. Besides its inviting villages, stone houses, chortens, mani walls, and serene footpaths, Tsum Valley provides a culturally rich and less crowded option to the well, known trekking routes in Nepal.
